In classical Ayurveda, worry is not a thought to be argued with. It is a condition of hridaya — the heart-mind — when the link between manas and the heart grows thin.
Charaka described the heart as the seat of consciousness. When that seat is unsettled, the mind circles. The remedy is not sedation. It is restoration of the link.
CalmVeda 23™ is built on that classical premise. Twenty-three herbs in samyoga, led by Arjuna — the bark Charaka named hridya, the herb for the heart — with Brahmi for manas, Indian Valerian for the nerves, and Pearl prepared as mukta pishti at the cooling centre of the formula.
The Vaidya’s answer
Three classical lineages converge in CalmVeda 23™. Dravya guna — the science of herbal substance taught by Balraj Maharishi. Nadi vigyan — the pulse tradition of Brihaspati Dev Triguna. And the preparation of mineral and pearl medicines in the lineage of V.M. Dwivedi.
The choice of Arjuna is not adaptogenic positioning. It is the classical answer to hridaya daurbalya — weakness of the heart — recorded in the samhitas and unchanged in Vaidya practice for two thousand years.
The preparation — mukta pishti
Pearl in CalmVeda 23™ is not powdered shell. It is mukta pishti — pearl prepared by classical Ayurvedic process: levigated with rosewater across days, dried, and rendered cooling, bioavailable, and traditionally indicated for the mind disturbed by pitta.
This is one of the preparations Vaidya Dwivedi spent his life teaching. It does not appear in modern adaptogen blends because the process is slow and the tradition is narrow. It appears here because the formula is built on the classical method, not on its replacement.
The Samyoga — twenty-three herbs in five tiers
Primary herbs
Indian Valerian · Arjuna · Brahmi (Bacopa) · Ashwagandha
These four lead the formula. Indian Valerian quiets the nerves; Arjuna steadies the heart; Brahmi nourishes manas; Ashwagandha grounds the system through its adaptogenic action on ojas.
Supporting herbs
Shatavari · Vanilla
Shatavari for the deeper rejuvenative tissues; Vanilla for the gentle sweetness that comforts an agitated mind.
Bio-available herbs
Holy Basil · Bilva · Indian Tinospora
These three open the channels — srotas — and carry the formula’s intelligence into the tissues. Holy Basil clears, Bilva digests, Indian Tinospora protects.
Co-factors
Pearl · Dashamoola
Pearl as mukta pishti — cooling, classical, prepared. Dashamoola — the ten-root blend — settling at the vata root of mental restlessness.
Balancing herbs
Ashwagandha · Shatavari
Returning at the formula’s close as the grounding tridoshic anchor.
